Rains to usher in more frost worries
Daily record rainfall amounts occurred over the weekend. Rockford,IL reported at 24 hour total of 2.26", Des Moines, IA reported a 24 hour rainfall total of 3.43, Sioux City, IA reported a 24 hour record total of 2.49" and St Cloud, Mn reported a 24 hour record total of 1.51". Since Friday morning, main areas in the midwest have recorded rainfall amounts over 2".
This is especially the case from southwestern through east-central MO, a small part of southwestern, IL and parts of southern IA. Heavier rainfall totals include Rockford at 2.87", 2.63 at Sioux City, 3.79 at Des Moines, 2.02" at Ottumwa, 2.32" at Omaha, 2.75" at Lincoln, 3.43" at Columbia, and 3.32" at St. Louis.
A squall line is pushing eastward across MI, IN, KY, and TN this morning and should move eastward into OH later this AM. Cool windy weather is forecast behind a cold front sweeping across IA into IL today. The next best chance of rain could be the middle of the week for MN and WI and Wednesday night and Thursday from IA into IL and IN. The extended forecast looks cool.
By Friday morning, lows in the 30s will be seen in much of the western Corn Belt with lows below freezing in northern Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. 30s will likely cover much of the Midwest on Saturday morning, with temperatures below freezing in Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, a good part of Iowa, and northern parts of Illinois and Indiana.
