Get more ag info on the go

Agriculture.com Staff 09/22/2011 @ 1:47pm

Just as fall harvest gets rolling full speed in the Corn Belt, there's now a new and improved way to keep up with the latest ag news, weather, markets and technology.

The new Agriculture.com mobile site (m.agriculture.com) builds on a long-standing platform to include new interactive and multimedia features. The site now offers enhanced grain and livestock prices, charts and analysis; regular video programming; and a new feature, Ag Apps.

"With Ag Apps we're featuring the latest and greatest smartphone applications relevant to agriculture," says Agriculture.com Multimedia Producer Justin Davey. "With the large number of apps available, the feature will help farmers make good choices."

Other enhancements include a daily video report by Markets Editor Mike McGinnis, an up-to-date commodities prices ticker, and expanded stories from Successful Farming.  The site offers a lively set of forums, including Marketing Talk, where growers can discuss tactics and interact with leading analysts.

Agriculture.com mobile recently won the top industry award for digital design. In its redesign, the editors gleaned input from farmers around the country, culminating in a hands-on usability study of the new site.

"We built on our long experience in interacting with farmers to create the retooled website. We let farmers be the first to test and critique it," Walter says. "I think it’s going to give people a strong set of information tools they can use while on the go."
