Top 3 Social Media Finds This Week

Jordan Anderson 07/09/2014 @ 10:57am Digital Content Editor for Successful Farming magazine and Agriculture.com

Check out my top three agriculture-related finds from Facebook, Twitter, and/or Pinterest that I just couldn't scroll past this week:

Lost forever?

We all seem to have our phones attached to our hip nowadays whether we're in town, the truck, the field, or even on top of the grain bin ladder. One Oklahoma farmer accidentally dropped his phone in a filling/full grain bin, never to be seen again -- or so he thought. You'll never guess where it ended up.

Cattle sorting too good to be true.

This video about sorting cows from calves has been floating around for a few months, but it was brought back to my attention again this week. Dr. Joseph M. Stookey, a professor from the University of Saskatchewan, explains a sorting method that's so simple, you'll wonder why you haven't thought of it yourself. It takes less than 90 seconds -- there's no reason not to give it a look!

"Why farmers farm."

Pinterest isn't only for the crafty dreamers who want to try one hundred different recipes and are planning their weddings before engagement is anywhere in sight. (Ladies, you know what I'm talking about.) There are tons of agriculture facts, pictures, guidebooks, and quotes to be shared and cherished.

While meandering through the online pin board this week, I found a pin that I simply couldn't pass up. Titan Outlet Store had a beautiful quote/conversation that emulates why farmers do what they do best -- provide food for the world. See the pin here!
