Buhler Industries, Inc., Winnipeg, Canada, has introduced a new brand name for their tractor division. At their first-ever Buhler Versatile dealer meeting, the company announced that the Versatile brand name would be the only name associated with the tractor division.

On November 1, 2007, Rostselmash, Inc., a combine company based in Russia, acquired 80% of the common shares of Buhler Industries, Inc. The purchase included all brands manufactured under the Buhler name, including Versatile.

"We recognize the history that is tied to the Versatile name. There are still many older Versatile tractors at work on farms around the world. The name stands for well-built tractors that are powerful, simple and easy to maintain. It is the same philosophy we use today and we are proud of that heritage. It is with great pride that we announce that the Versatile name is back," says Dmitry Lyubimov, President of Buhler Industries, Inc.

The new Versatile 250 and Versatile 280, which are powered by a Cummins QSC 8.3-liter engine, are replacing the Buhler Genesis 2180 and 2210. The 250 features 200 PTO horsepower while the 280 has 225 PTO horsepower. The high-pressure common-rail injection engine replaces the European-built 7.5-liter Genesis engine and features more displacement and modern technology.

Other features include a slightly wider hood and a new warranty policy that will be standard on tractors sold after November 1, 2008. The suggested retail price for the Versatile 250 is $165,000 (U.S. dollars) and $172,000 for the Versatile 280. The two new models will be available in early 2009.
