Challenger Launches MT900E and MT600E

02/10/2014 @ 3:54pm

Challenger is expanding its fleet of high-horsepower tractors with the introduction of the Challenger MT900E series articulated tractors and MT600E series.

The AP168-4 engine powering all MT900E models is designed to handle rigorous field applications with 490 to 590 rated engine hp. and 529 to 637 maximum engine hp. Dual twin turbochargers with interstage-charge air coolers and electronic wastegate control contribute to better torque at low RPMs. The high torque rise and sustained torque curve provide improved lugging ability without the need to downshift or pull the implement out of the ground, boosting productivity and fuel efficiency. The efficient engine design achieves Tier 4 Final emissions without a diesel particulate filter.

The MT900E is as big on hydraulic capability as it is on pulling power. Standard hydraulic capacity is increased to 58 gpm, with a high-flow option of 85 gpm. Operators benefit from a rugged Category V drawbar with Category IV adapter, which saves time when changing implements.

Panoramic views, plush-leather seating options, and advanced auto guidance technology turn the MT900E series cab into a deluxe command center. All models are Auto-Guide 3000 ready from the factory. The fully integrated steering solution provides a seamless transition from previous models. The MT900E family includes the MT955E (490 engine hp.), MT965E (540 engine hp.), and MT975E (590 engine hp.).

“AP84-4 diesel engines are at the heart of what makes the MT600E series so valuable for today’s growers,” says Conor Bergin, Challenger. “The new clean-burning, fuel-efficient design stands up to the most demanding field applications, allowing operators to power through longer workdays.”

All MT600E models feature six-cylinder, AP84-4 diesel engines. Now with twin turbochargers, these power plants deliver up to 1,136 foot-pounds of torque at low RPMs. The upgraded engines meet Tier 4 Final emissions with third-generation selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology, a new diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC), and a cooled exhaust gas recirculation system (cEGR).

With an impressive 54 GPM of hydraulic flow, MT600E tractors offer improved hydraulic performance and capability.

Redesigned cabs feature a new dashboard that is designed around a bright, easy-to-read setup and system information screen that simplifies navigation with a 50% larger screen. The new B-pillar design collects important settings and controls in one convenient side post. All MT600E models are also equipped with Auto-Guide 3000.

The five models include the MT645E (270 max engine hp.), MT655E (295 max engine hp.), MT665E (320 max engine hp.), MT675E (350 max engine hp.), and MT685E (370 max engine hp.)
