Efficiency on the Farm 6
Precision ag technology improves efficiency
Welcome to this week's Efficiency on the Farm segment. I'm Justin Davy. In recent articles, Successful Farming editor, Lori Bedord, reported how incorporating precision ag technology into your farm operation can improve in efficiency. For more than 10 years, Tipton, California area farmer, Tom Barcellos has been investing in precision ag technology starting with yield monitors in 1998. He then added auto steer 2 years later which resulted in a 10 to 15 percent savings in fuel, reduced operator fatigue and less wear and tear on machinery. Today, Barcellos has 5 tractors with auto steer and he's begun practicing conservation tillage, which has further enhanced his efficiency and brought conservation benefits.
