Collin Peterson on crop insurance

Dan Looker interviews Rep. Collin Peterson (D-Mn)

-I just wanted to ask. It's not because, you know, we have any particular criticisms of the crop insurance program. Many of our readers, viewers are still worried about it because the Environmental Working Group and other small government organizations want to cut spending on crop insurance, and so my question is, do you think there is any chance that the House agriculture committee would reduce the levels of premium subsidies for crop insurance in the next farm bill? -No, I don't think so. I mean, anything that happened, it would be a limit on the premium subsidies on very large [unk], and I don't think that will happen either, but there is some momentum building there, I guess, and I hear about that from people who might not at all concerned, but some people who are driving up the land prices and rent prices to a point where it's crazy, you know, and a lot of people think it's, to some extent, causing the problem for us. So, well, I don't see the vote is being there to make any significant change in this bill. -Okay. Well, thank you very much.
