Agronomy Tip: Manage Increased Weed Pressure

Over the 2020 growing season, a lot of farmers that were in a preventive plant situation in 2019 have been fighting an unprecedented amount of weed pressure on those acres.

Sam Knott, Director of Central US Crops for Atticus, says, “There are a lot of summer annual grasses and annual broadleaf weeds that went to seed and enhanced or repopulated the seed weed bank. Farmers have to handle those fields differently this summer, possibly by increasing the rate of burn down herbicides and the residual to make sure populations of last year’s weeds don't come back to hurt them this cropping year.”
