First Year Data Shows 10.3 Bu./A. Advantage of In-Furrow Sugar

Below are the results of the first year evaluation of applying sugar in-furrow on corn to see if it increases yield and profitability.

Observation
Foliar applied sugar has been tested by Beck's Practical Farm Research (PFR)® and universities for several years. Some universities have noted plant health improvements but, for the most part, no significant yield gains.

We decided to test a different application method for sugar and applied it in-furrow through a Flo-Rite® seed firmer. Although we saw no visual differences, we did see an amazing +10.3 Bu./A. yield response and a $38.77/A. return on investment by applying 4 lb./A. of sugar in-furrow. We will continue to evaluate this practice in an effort to acquire multi-year data to see if these results remain positive over time.

Beck's Hybrids PFR program conducts more than 75 different studies across multiple locations (500+ acres) to learn how different management practices and new technologies perform in field environments. Simply put, it is research focused with the farmer in mind.
