Agronomy Tip: How Cool Conditions Impact Germination

If germination hasn’t occurred as expected this season, particularly because of cooler weather, you may have to make a decision to get back into the fields and replant.

Todd Schomburg, Director of Agronomy at Stine Seed Company elaborates on the impact of even plant spacing, “If you have a soybean field that is evenly spaced, even at a population of 80,000 we've seen where you can still get 90% or better yield potential out of that field. So, you can take a pretty good stand reduction, but it still needs to be fairly evenly spaced.”
