Free online course helps combat rural stress
These are stressful times for everyone, and it's important that we all pay attention to those around us and recognize signs that they may need help coping.
A free online course, Rural Resilience: Farm Stress Training is now available online. It consists of three units: managing stress, communicating with distressed farmers, and suicide awareness.
Participants will learn how to recognize the signs of stress and suicide risk, get tips for communicating effectively with those under stress, and see how they can help reduce the stigma attached to mental health issues.
The entire course takes less than three hours to complete. It can be taken anytime and at the user's own pace, and consists of voice-over slide presentations and downloadable resources. It will be available through June 2021.
