Four Winners Announced for Operation FarmSafe

DES MOINES, IOWA – July 16, 2012 Operation FarmSafe grants have been awarded to four families by Successful Farming® magazine. Each recipient chose to receive a free Certified Farm Safe review of the farm operation and received the $2,500 grant to make necessary safety improvements.

Successful Farming congratulates: Peter and Christina Winch, Fennimore, Wisconsin; Larry and Susan Castle, Imperial, Nebraska; Norbert and Linda Soltwedel, Shumway, Illinois; and Mike and Kay Winn of Rich Square, North Carolina.

“The response to Operation FarmSafe shows that farmers are very aware of the safety hazards on their farms, and understand the need to be proactive,” says Cheryl Tevis, Farm Issues Editor, Successful Farming. “We received applications from 17 states, and it was very difficult to select four.”

Recipients were chosen based on the need for safety improvements on their farm and the potential benefits of receiving the $2,500 grant. Nationwide Agribusiness Insurance provided funding for the four grants and optional Certified Farm Safe review.

The Operation FarmSafe recipients will be featured in the November and December issues of Successful Farming magazine.
