December 13-19, 2004Dreaming of a white Christmas

At a community holiday party, Annette tells Santa Shawn what she wants for Christmas ... snow!

Happy Holidays from Wallowa County! It is cold here but still no snow. The mud got pretty bad but is finally starting to dry up. I am still looking for a white Christmas.

Shawn drove to Pasco all week. Wednesday he also went to the feed mill. He has to go again this week. Friday night was the Community Christmas Party put on by the South Fork Grange here in Lostine. We have a potluck and then a program with singing by adults and the kids then Santa arrives. Shawn was Santa this year and did a great job! He tried to get out of it at first, stage fright, but last year when asked to do it, he told Duke who had been Santa to do it one more year then Shawn would. No one forgot to remind Shawn of his promise.

I am selling feed and wrapping Christmas gifts. It seems like I am selling more feed every week. I have also been selling quite a few gift items. I get phone calls or quick visits asking me to hold something then wrap it. I have several people that are picking up their gifts on Christmas Eve.

I shipped packages to my sister Tracy and her family in Southern Oregon and took packages for my mom and Craig and his family to my Aunt Mary's at LaGrande so that she can deliver them when she goes to Grandma's. Saturday after I closed I picked up Lyken and Shannon, to take Christmas shopping with me in LaGrande. They are the teenage daughters of one of our customers and a lady that works for my landlord. We had a great time but getting home at just after 11 pm made for a very long day.

Sunday morning after chores, Shawn and I went for a drive then came home to do evening chores before going to a Christmas Party at Diane's Kitchen. Great fun and great food! Good thing we don't eat like this year round.

Shawn and I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Heathy New Year!
