Women in Ag: Winter Brings New Beginnings
As the last few leaves stubbornly cling to the tree branches and we desperately cling to our short-sleeved shirts and light jackets, Mother Nature is moving right along and sending us straight into the winter season. Temps are dropping, sunny days are becoming few and far between, and snowflakes are appearing in the 10-day forecast. Winter comes every year, but somehow we are never ready for it.
This year, I can’t help but think of winter in a different light than usual. Although it means there won’t be leaves on the trees or green grass in the yard, it also brings with it new life. Our first child will be born this winter. As she grows and flourishes, so will the new plants in the spring. Winter is a time for rest; a time for the plants and soil to rejuvenate. Something tells me there won’t be much resting in our house with a newborn in a few weeks, though!
I'm not excited about the cold weather and icy roads, but I am so excited for the new beginnings that this winter brings with it! I have so much to be thankful for this year, and I continue into December with a grateful heart and eager mind. Things will certainly look different around here come springtime!
