Farmers asked to consider donating masks to hospitals

Mike Paustian, president of the Iowa Pork Producers Association, is asking members and friends to consider donating masks to health care workers. Here is his letter sent this afternoon:

Iowa Pork has been contacted by several different groups requesting the donation of personal protective equipment (PPE), especially N-95 face masks, for frontline health care workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We understand that face masks and other forms of PPE are important to the health and safety of you and your team members on pig farms – we certainly do not wish for you to sacrifice your personal health and safety, but if you have things to spare, please consider donating them.

The best way to donate items is to contact your local hospital or to coordinate donations through your local county emergency manager. You may find your county emergency manager here.

One of our We Care principles is dedicated to giving back to our communities. Thank you for considering this as one way to make that positive difference.
