Agronomy Tip: How Frozen Fields and Winter Temps Affect Your Tires

If you use equipment during the winter, take care driving over frozen dirt clods.

Brad Harris, Manager of Global Agricultural Field Engineering at Firestone Ag says, “Especially on livestock operations or if you’re moving snow, be cognizant of when the temperatures drop. Frozen mud turns into frozen clods and if we drive over those, it’s like driving over a sharp rock in the field.”

Harris says that can cause an impact and break into the tire. Minimize how much driving you do over those structures and smooth out your main driving paths if possible.
