New tool helps you calculate what's in your bins
Wondering how many bushels of grain you have in on farm storage? There's an online tool that can help, if you have a few simple measurements.
Working with the Farm Service Agency, North Dakota based FarmNet Services, Inc., has developed a Grain Bin Bushel Calculator to help farmers figure the number of bushels in a grain bin. The tool works with a long list of different commodities for round and rectangular bins.
Plug in the dimensions of your bin, the height of the grain, the height of the grain peak, and the test weight of the grain. The tool will calculate the number of bushels.
There are separate tools for corn, soybeans, wheat, sunflower, sorghum, oats, rapeseed, canola, rye and barley.
