Cast Iron Closing Wheel Throws Its Weight Around to Close the Seed Slot

One of the latest planting accessories introduced this winter throws its weight around to ensure good seed-to-soil contact. Unveiled at the National Farm Machinery Show, CopperheadAg’s Drill Cruisers are a cast iron-spoked closing wheel that improves closure of the seed slot in both conventional and no-till situations, says Kevin Berg of that company.

“The extra weight from the cast iron design minimizes movement of the closing wheel in the field, which results in more consistent seed-to-soil contact,” he says. The Drill Cruiser bolts in when replacing existing closing wheels on John Deere 60 and 90 series planters and retails for $90 per wheel. For more information, go to copperheadag.com.
