Massey Ferguson tractors sell for record auction prices
Used four-wheel drive tractors in really good shape have been rising in value for almost a year now.
More proof yesterday (June 27, 2012) on a farm retirement auction I covered near Dows, IA, in the north-central part of Iowa just off I-35. Owner Arne Anderson really took meticulous care of his equipment, particularly his (2) Massey Ferguson tractors and his Massey combine. Both the Massey Ferguson tractors sold for record high auction sale prices, including his 1982 MF 4800 4WD bareback tractor with 6,420 hours. It went for $24,250. Arne’s 1998 MF 8160 MFWD tractor with 2,885 hours sold for $58,000. See for yourself:
The prices on the (2) Massey Ferguson tractors on yesterday’s Iowa farm auction speak to the continued strength of the used tractor market, particularly for used models in very good condition. Even with growing chatter about the heat & drought stressed areas, still, when very nice condition used tractors show up for sale at auction…they’re still bringing premium money. Also a real strong sale price on the 1987 MF 8560 rotary combine with 4,866 hours on yesterday’s sale in north-central Iowa at $14,250 (no heads). Same deal with older used combines like this…show me one in very good condition selling at auction and chances are we’ll see a very strong sale price.
