New Holland’s Beast of a Chopper

Turning out a whopping 911 hp. (with a 44% torque rise) thanks to a V-12 (12-cylinder) engine, New Holland’s FR920 forage harvester has been equipped with a heavy-duty four-wheel-drive system developed to deal with the increased power and traction requirements of this size diesel.

That drive increases the maximum torque transferred to the wheels by 60% compared with the standard four-wheel-drive systems.

Introduced this week during the National Farm Machinery Show, the FR920 is offered with a choice of three crop processor roll configurations. The new DuraCracker system offers uniform kernel cracking and expanded processing performance. The DuraShredder employs 110/138 tooth rolls with additional spiral grooves that shred the stover and further processing kernels. The hard-chromed rolls of both processors are the widest on the market, reducing the thickness of the crop mat going through to ensure the best possible processing.
