Issue Preview: Price Trends for Deere Harvesters

After skimming off the cream of the crop of low-hour combines that sold recently, I decided to do a deep dive on the price trends of John Deere combines built since 2012.

I restricted my search to combines sold at auction since February 2016. That’s because older auction prices are quickly outdated during these volatile trading times. All told, I found 457 combines. Their selling prices are reflected in this table.

The challenge with this information is that it doesn’t account for the impact that hours have on value, although lower-hour combines certainly account for the high price-range figures.

Also important is whether a combine comes with extra features such as dual tires, rear-wheel drive, extended wear parts, or precision ag equipment.

See my Pocket Price Guide for late-model, low-hour combines in the August issue (page 33) of Successful Farming magazine.
