Kubota RTV X900
In 2013, the Successful Farming team conducted the Ultimate UTV Evaluation at Little Goose Ranch in Wyoming. One of the machines tested was the Kubota RTV X900.
The Kubota uses a hydraulic form of a CVT, specifically a hydrostatic transmission. “There are strengths and weaknesses to this approach,” elaborates John Lumkes, ag engineering professor at Purdue University. “Strengths include the option to add hydraulic power accessories, forward and reverse capabilities without a separate gear box, good engine braking, and an easy creep mode."
The Kubota can haul 1,100 pounds and tow up to 1,300 pounds. Our evaluators appreciated the tie-downs in the cargo box, shown at left.
Here you can see the selection for L/H/N/R as well as the dash that displays speed and the fuel gauge.
The seats on the Kubota RTV X900 come off for additional storage capacity.
