Agronomy Tip: Prepare to Manage Soil Compaction this Spring
“Most people realize they have soil compaction at planting time, and by then it’s probably too late to remedy it,” says Matthew Nelson, Channel Technical Agronomist.
You likely experience the compaction at certain spots in the field where the seed just won’t go into the ground. In this case, Nelson recommends using hydraulic down pressure systems on your row units. “That will help ensure you’re actually getting your seed in the ground and maintaining consistent planting depth,” he says.
