Engine Fluid Analysis Is a Must for Modern Machinery

Although engine fluid analysis has been around for decades, many farmers still do not use this diagnostic tool with their modern machinery, Successful Farming’s Engine Man, Ray Bohacz, pointed out when speaking on the Main Stage at the recent Commodity Classic in San Antonio, Texas.

“Fluid analysis is a great predictor of mechanical failure or excessive wear in an engine, for example,” Bohacz pointed out. “And analysis can detect foreign components in engine fluids and show when that fluid is breaking down chemically.”

Another advantage of fluid analysis is that it builds a history on the machine, which can improve its worth during resale. “It can also support your warranty claim in case of a breakdown,” Bohacz says. When taking a sample, such as engine oil, to be sent in for analysis, always use the sample bottle supplied by the test laboratory, he adds.
