Drought isn't slowing tractor auction sales

Yep, it’s hot and dry almost all over.

So used farm equipment values must be falling with this severe drought, right? Well, not necessarily. Check out what (3) nice John Deere tractors sold for on a farm auction last Saturday (July 14, 2012) in northeast Kansas…a very warm and dry area:

  • 2006 JD 6415 MFWD with 940 hours & JD 673 Loader: $55,500

  • 1990 JD 4055 2WD with 1,573 hours: $47,000

  • JD 4030 with 2,830 hours, QR, rough cab interior, rear tires 20%: $19,000

Those are (2) new record auction sale prices on the JD 6415 and the JD 4055
tractors…and the 4055 was a two-wheel drive with no loader. $19,000 on the JD 4030 with rough cab interior and only 20% rear rubber is the 5th highest auction sale price I’ve seen on a JD 4030 tractor in the past 16+ years.

So good used tractors still holding value very well, even in drought areas like eastern Kansas.

Another sale price I found very interesting from Saturday’s northeast Kansas farm auction: a 2003 GMC Sierra SLE 2500 HD 4WD pickup, crew cab, short bed, with 35,010 miles. It sold for $26,000. Whew. Another new record auction sale price was set on a tractor on a collector auction in northwest Iowa last Saturday. It was a sale I covered in Rock Valley, IA. A 1972 IHC 1468 tractor with 3,869 hours sold for $31,500. Here’s a Youtube video I posted Saturday night after the auction featuring the (3) IHC 1468’s and other nice red tractors sold on Saturday’s sale:
