EU awards 926 T wheat, 3,230 T barley in weekly grain quota imports

PARIS, Jan 24 (Reuters) - The European Union approved licences to import 926 tonnes of wheat in its third award under this year's tariff-rate quotas (TRQ) for cereals, official data showed.

The total volume of wheat quota imports approved so far for the year rose to 67,177 tonnes, with most booked under a duty-free tranche reserved for Ukrainian supplies.

Importers also applied for 3,230 tonnes of Ukrainian barley in the latest week but no requests were made for maize (corn), the data showed. (Reporting by Forrest Crellin; Editing by Jan Harvey)
