Ukraine's 2020/21 grain exports down 11% so far

KYIV, Sept 11 (Reuters) - Ukraine has exported 9.2 million tonnes of grain so far in the July 2020-June 2021 season compared to 10.3 million tonnes at the same point during the previous season, the economy ministry said on Friday.

The volume is down due to a decline in corn sales, to 608,000 tonnes from around 1.9 million tonnes by the same date last season.

Wheat sales stood at 6.2 million tonnes, almost the same volume as a year earlier.

Exports also included 2.4 million tonnes of barley.

Ukraine is the world's fourth-largest wheat exporter, with 56.5 million tonnes of grain sold in the 2019/20 season.

The government has said exports could decline to 47.4 million tonnes in 2020/21.

The economy ministry also expects the 2020 grain crop to fall to around 68 million tonnes because of poor weather from a record 75.1 million tonnes in 2019. (Reporting by Pavel Polityuk; editing by Emelia Sithole-Matarise)
