PARIS, Dec 12 (Reuters) - Farmers need to boost organic food
production in France to meet fast-growing demand or consumers
will turn to imports at the expense of some environmental
benefits, credit insurer Coface said on Tuesday.
Organic food sales are expected to reach 8 billion euros
($9.4 billion) in 2017, up 14 percent on last year, and the pace
of growth should continue at 10-15 percent for the foreseeable
future, it said.
BRASILIA, Dec 12 (Reuters) - Brazil's Ministry of
Agriculture launched a program on Tuesday to ensure farmers
comply with anti-corruption, environmental and child labor
laws, after a highly publicized meatpacking scandal raised

ASUNCION, Dec 12 (Reuters) - Paraguay's economy is expected
to grow 4.5 percent next year driven by agriculture, trade and

The bank expects inflation to be 4.0 percent in 2018 and 4.2

The Sao Paulo-based sugar and ethanol consultancy said
stocks are estimated at between 1.5 billion liters and 1.6
billion liters on March 31, when the crop is officially over.
That compares to 1.9 billion liters a year earlier.

Tuesday it had renewed for five years the licence for the
weed-killer glyphosate, a key ingredient in Monsanto Co's
top-selling Roundup, following a heated debate over
whether it causes cancer.
A sufficient majority of EU countries voted at the end of
November to clear the licence extension, but
opposition to the herbicide remained, including from a citizens'
initiative wanting it banned and demanding greater transparency
BUENOS AIRES, Dec 12 (Reuters) - The European Union, United
States and Japan will issue a joint statement on Tuesday
criticizing industrial overcapacity, though it will not directly
name China, a major source of concern, EU Trade Commissioner
Cecilia Malmstrom said.
In the opening session of the World Trade Organization (WTO)
ministerial conference in Buenos Aires on Monday, the United
States and Japan criticized a lack of transparency in some WTO
members' trade practices, a thinly veiled swipe at China.
