MOSCOW, Dec 14 (Reuters) - Russia will place temporary
restrictions on imports of all agriculture products from Sri
Lanka, including tea, from Dec. 18, the Russian agricultural
safety watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor said on Thursday.
The watchdog said it had taken the decision to impose
restrictions after it found an insect, known as the Khapra
beetle, in the packaging of one tea supply from Sri Lanka.
Tea is Sri Lanka's main agricultural crop.

Dec 14 (Reuters) - A U.S. government weather forecaster on
Thursday said La Niña conditions are predicted to continue
through the Northern Hemisphere winter 2017-18.

BERN, Dec 14 (Reuters) - Bolivian President Evo Morales said
an ambitious project to build a coast-to-coast railway across
South America had moved a step closer to reality after he signed
a cooperation agreement with Switzerland on Thursday.
The undertaking, expected to cost at least $10 billion,
would entail building a 3,750-km (2,300-mile) line from the
Brazilian port of Santos to Ilo in Peru, crossing the Andes
mountains to link the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.
KIEV, Dec 14 (Reuters) - Ukraine has increased wheat exports
to Middle Eastern countries by 46 percent in the first four
months of the current 2017/18 season to 829,100 tonnes despite
strong competition from Russia, analyst APK-Inform said on
Ukraine exported 569,400 tonnes of wheat to the region in
the same period of the 2016/17 season, it said in a report.
