2022 Census of Agriculture signup ends June 30
If you are a producer who wants to take part in the 2022 Census of Agriculture, you have until June 30 to sign up. Taken only once every five years by the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NAAS), the census provides a complete count of U.S. farms and ranches and the people who operate them.
NASS will mail ag census survey codes to registered producers in November, so they can respond securely online. In addition, a hard copy of the survey will be sent in December.
The Census of Agriculture has been conducted for more than 180 years and serves as comprehensive and impartial agricultural data for the nation. All operations are included, regardless of size or location, as long as at least $1,000 of agricultural products are sold or would typically be sold in a year.
“The Census of Agriculture is a collective voice that tells the story and value of American agriculture,” says Barbara Rater, NASS Census and Survey Division director. “The data influences action and informs policy and program decisions that directly impact producers, their operations, and everyone they touch – and that’s all of us.”
Producers can find frequently asked questions, explore past and current ag census data, learn about ag census special studies, and access other agricultural tools on the NASS website at nass.usda.gov/AgCensus.
