Iowa Ag Secretary Waits Patiently for USDA Appointment Vote

Secretary Bill Northey remains hopeful for the USDA post.

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Over three months after being appointed to a USDA post by Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue, an easy confirmation and unanimous Senate committee vote, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey tells Agriculture.com that he remains hopeful to get a  vote.

Meanwhile, the clock is ticking on Secretary Northey to file reelection papers for the state post he currently holds, if the USDA appointment doesn’t come through.

On the sidelines of the Land Investment Expo, here, Secretary Northey joined Successful Farming in a Facebook Livestream.
