Lely offers commodity feeder as a standard solution

The partial mixed ration is an extra incentive for many cows to visit the milking robot. By offering the commodity feeder as a standard feature on the Lely Astronaut A5 robotic milking system, producers will now have the ability to offer their animals non-pelleted feed while reducing feed costs.

By using loose raw materials like barley, oats, and corn rather than expensive compound feed, it is possible for producers to feed more economically, which can result in significant savings, especially for a self-sufficient dairy. The solution also reduces dependence on feed processors and price fluctuations.

Operation of the system depends on dry matter percentage, particle size, and stickiness of feed type. The commodity feeder is also available as an upgrade kit, which is easily mounted to existing Lely Astronaut A5 and A4 models in operation from July 2013. Contact your local Lely dealer for more information.
