Locate, Scale-Tec Collaborate on New Technology

By teaming up with LOCATE Inventory, Scale-Tec’s POINT scale display enables users to collect and analyze real-time weight and mass data. Because LOCATE’s technology is cloud-based, users are also able to digitally connect with Scale-Tec to view diagnostics and trouble-shoot issues in real time.

“We are turning the page in the agriculture industry here at Scale-Tec,” says Scale-Tec President Nick Von Muenster. “Being able to offer a product that ties in manufacturing, warehousing, programming, and sales of technology through API interface of cloud-based systems is a real game-changer.”

By opening up its platform, LOCATE has made it easy to configure Point. Users simply activate their scale product through the API interface. The configuration profile is then sent to POINT, and the scale is automatically calibrated.

“It is very exciting to see that customers like Scale-Tec are using LOCATE to expand their potential,” says George Keliher, founder and CEO for LOCATE Inventory. “This is just the tip of the iceberg. The cloud opens up limitless possibilities for our clients in many industries, including farming.”

Additional Features

This collaboration is one of many. Others include:

  1. While POINT offers the simplicy of a basic scale, it also includes mobile apps that enhance its capabilities. The apps are available on both Android and iOS.
  2. The advanced Bluetooth capability also provides a long-range connection of more than 1,000 feet. This enables multiple tablets and smartphones to connect to the POINT scale display simultaneously for sharing and displaying weight data. It can also connect to other Bluetooth wireless devices, such as an EID tag reader so an animal’s identification can be read alongside its weight.
  3. When a user receives a notification that a software update is available, it can be easily updated through the cloud.
  4. POINT users are also able to contact the Scale-Tec support team directly through the mobile app. In addition, Scale-Tec’s support staff has the ability to virtually access the user’s POINT display and diagnose the entire scale system through a remote support session.

“LOCATE, as a platform, was specifically designed to facilitate these types of integrations. In a way, this achievement by Scale-Tec is the realization of one piece of what drove us to create LOCATE,” says Nick Schiffelbein, chief technology officer, Locate inventory. “Everything in LOCATE is API accessible. There are no limits to what you can automate within the software. This keeps the dreams of businesses like Scale-Tec who use it alive and growing. It is something we are very proud to be a part of.”
