A huge day for online iron auctions

One sale alone is offering no less than 15 late-model semi trucks.

Kyle McMahon with Tractor Zoom reports that no less than 15 machinery auctions will be held online today. Another eight online auctions are scheduled for Thursday and Saturday, respectively, for good measure. You can find those listings at tractorzoom.com.

Why are so many auctions being held during this, the start of planting season? Shoot, a lot of corn is already going in the ground right now in Southern states.

Well, all the live auctions scheduled in March (one of the biggest months for machinery auctions during the year) were suspended because of the COVID-19 pandemic. These sales were subsequently switched to online sales now playing out. This week marks the last of a swarm of online iron sales until after planting is completed.

Of today’s auctions the must-see sale to watch online is the Swenson Partnership Auction being held by Wieman Land & Auctions (wiemanauction.com). Iron available at this sale includes:

  • A mass of semi trucks that includes two 2016, four 2014, three 2012, and one 2013 Kenworth (models T800, T880 and T660s) vehicles; three 2006 Freightliner Columbia trucks; as well as two 2013 Volvo VNL64T300 semis
  • 2018 Deere 544K wheel loader
  • 2018 Deere 560M round baler
  • 2017 John Deere 2623 40-foot disk
  • 2017 Deere 6130R with 640 hours
  • 2012 Deere DB90 36-row (30-inch spacings) planter
  • 2012 Volvo EC300DL excavator
