Ford introduces all new chassis cab truck line
Ford is debuting its F-series Super Duty Chassis Cab trucks offering the line with no less than a choice of three different engines and an entirely new automatic transmission. This line of trucks includes the models F-350, F-450, and F-550 available in XL, XLT, and Lariat trim versions.
Engine choices for the chassis cabs line include:
• A brand-new big-block 7.3-liter V-8 gas engine that turns out 350 hp. and best-in-class 468 foot-pounds of torque (both ratings are at 3,900 engine rpm).
• The third-generation 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbocharged V-8 diesel that generates 330 hp. (at 2,600 rpm) and 825 foot-pounds of torque (at 1,600 rpm). That engine provides an improvement of 75 foot-pounds of torque from previous models.
• An existing 6.2-liter V-8 gas engine that turns out 385 hp. (at 5,750 rpm) and 430 foot-pounds of torque (at 3,800 rpm).
New to the chassis cab offering is Ford’s all-new 10-speed TorqShift automatic heavy-duty transmission that comes available with a live drive power takeoff. This new 10-bolt power takeoff is capable of providing a best-in-class maximum 300 foot-pounds of stationary torque. The PTO addition comes standard on diesel-equipped models.
The chassis cab line brags a best-in-class maximum payload of 12,750 pounds. “From the 6.2 V-8 to the 7.3L V-8 to the heavy-duty 10-speed, these powertrains are always in the sweet spot of the power band for maximum efficiency and capability in towing and hauling,” says Greg Stout of Ford.
Starting prices for the chassis cab lines range from:
• $34,600 for the F-350 XL
• $39,270 for the F-450 XL
• $40,365 for the F-550 XL
