FarmLogs Adds to Its Suite of Features

Michigan-based FarmLogs is adding to its lineup of farm-management tools for 2017. The new offerings include Automatic Data Transfer, Field Data Analyzer, Crop & Profit Planner, and Wheat Nitrogen Prescriptions.

“We focused on building tools that would make it incredibly easy for growers to understand how each decision impacts profitability on a field-by-field basis,” says Jesse Vollmar, CEO and cofounder of FarmLogs. “We know that one size doesn’t fit all. That’s why this year we decided to offer a variety of product packages that will give growers more choices and more control in solving the unique challenges that matter most to their farms.”

Centered on simplicity, efficiency, and profitability, the new offerings address the greatest challenges, uncertainties, and operational concerns facing row-crop farmers today.

Crop & Profit Planner. The planner enables users to forecast and visualize potential profits based on various agronomic field decisions that could be made throughout the season.

Wheat Nitrogen Prescriptions. An optimized recommendation is provided for each wheat field zone, and equipment is programmed to apply nitrogen at variable rates.

Field Data Analyzer. This tool allows users to compare and contrast variables such as soil type, inputs, and management zones as field layers to understand the agronomic practices that impact ROI and yield.

Automatic Data Transfer. This product takes the hassle out of transferring, organizing, and interpreting planting, yield, and equipment files regardless of file type. Users can archive and easily access streamlined and easy-to-read files.

The company is also combining tools and offering them in a variety of packages.

FarmLogs Operations Manager includes Automatic Activity Recording, Automatic Data Transfer, Field Data Analyzer, and Crop & Profit Planner. Cost is $2.50 per acre.

FarmLogs Crop Manager includes Crop Health Imagery, Crop Health Alerts, and Nitrogen Monitoring. Cost is $2.50 per acre.

FarmLogs also offers Variable Rate Prescriptions, which include Corn Seeding Prescriptions ($2.50 per acre), Corn Nitrogen Prescriptions ($6 per acre), and Wheat Nitrogen Prescriptions ($2.50 per acre).

FarmLogs Advantage offers access to every product at $10 per acre. This package gives users unlimited access to the standard package, as well as Crop Manager, Operations Manager, and all of the Variable Rate Prescriptions.

FarmLogs Standard, which includes Rainfall Tracking and more, is free. Any package can be added to this package.

FarmLogs raises $22 million

These offerings come on the heels of an announcement late last year in which the company noted that it had raised $22 million in a Series C round of funding. Naspers Ventures led the round, which also included FarmLogs earlier investors Drive Capital, Huron River Ventures, Hyde Park Venture Partners, SV Angel, as well as individual investors such as Y Combinator president Sam Altman. FarmLogs (which currently has around 70 full-time employees) says it plans to use the funds to add staff and to make more row-crop farmers aware of its offerings.
