Iowa start-up FarmlandFinder acquired by EasyKnock

Residential sale-leaseback solution EasyKnock has acquired its counterpart in agriculture FarmlandFinder, bringing the sale-leaseback model to a broader audience.

Developed by Steven Brockshus as part of his agricultural entrepreneurship class at Iowa State University, FarmlandFinder is an online tool that lets you view upcoming land sales, sale price records, sale transaction details, soil composition maps, and more across the state of Iowa. Launched in 2016, the Iowa start-up added a sale-leaseback program to its platform in February 2021.

“We’re thrilled to continue to build our offering as part of the EasyKnock team,” says Steven Brockshus, FarmlandFinder founder and CEO. “The addition of our rural farmland offering with EasyKnock’s products, platform, and reach is a powerful new option for more Americans looking for liquidity.”

Headquartered in New York City, EasyKnock enables American homeowners to convert their equity to cash by selling the property to the company while remaining in the home as a renter.

“FarmlandFinder is an innovative platform addressing the challenges of U.S. farmers,” says Jarred Kessler, founder and CEO of EasyKnock. “Today’s acquisition brings FarmlandFinder’s platform and expertise to EasyKnock, strengthening our offering and our commitment to providing new ways for homeowners and now landowners to convert their equity to cash.”
