More Tillage Tools Gain John Deere TruSet Technology

In 2018, TruSet will be available on more new and late-model tillage tools. This technology, which offers depth and pressure control as well as mapping functions, gives farmers more precise, on-the-go control of tillage functions, plus mapping and data management.

Originally introduced on the 2730 Combo Ripper in 2015, John Deere has added the technology to more tillage and nutrient application tools over the past few years.

“TruSet now brings precision capabilities to many tillage operations like never before. As a result, operators can till each acre the way they want by making more precise and faster adjustments to depth (0.1-inch accuracy) and down pressure (0 to 900 psi) as residue, compaction, and soil conditions change across the field,” says Jarred Karnei, product marketing manager for John Deere. “At the same time, tillage information for each field is mapped and stored and can be overlaid with other data to make better agronomic decisions later on.”

The 2720 Disk Ripper is the latest tillage tool that can be equipped with TruSet. This means farmers are able to run deeper over end rows and compacted areas or shallow on hilltops and light soils. Farmers are also able to quickly adjust the depth of the rippers and the pressure of the active hydraulic rolling baskets right from the cab.

In addition, TruSet active hydraulic stabilizer wheels are available on the 9-standard 22-foot, 5-inch and 11-standard 27-foot, 5-inch 2720 Disk Ripper models. Manual turnbuckle adjustments are a thing of the past as this technology provides faster, more convenient, and accurate tillage control and performance.

A number of new John Deere tillage implements can be equipped from the factory with TruSet, and can also be added to many late-model tillage tools, including:

  • 2730 Combination Ripper
  • 2720 Disk Ripper
  • 2230 Field Cultivator
  • 2330 Mulch Finisher
  • 2620 and 2630 Series Disks and Vertical Tillage tools
  • 2510H Nutrient Applicators

Depth adjustments can now be made within six seconds for all of these tools, which is hundreds of times faster than conventional, manual adjustments. To save even more time, the TruSet preset buttons allow the user to save settings used the most in specific soil conditions or residue types.
