Raven Expands Logistics Portfolio

Raven Industries, Inc. and Razor Tracking are partnering to provide ag retailers and enterprise farms with an expanded fleet and asset tracking suite.

Available through the Raven Slingshot platform, Slingshot Fleet Tracking is an integrated logistics tracking component. By leveraging Razor Track’s mobile application-based fleet tracking and management system, users can seamlessly and wirelessly connect the office to the field in real time. As a result, ag retailers and growers will gain immediate information about their fleet including work, idle, and transit times to better manage equipment, assets, and operations.

“This agreement enables Raven to quickly expand unmatched value to our growing ag retailer and grower customer base,” says Paul Welbig, director of Slingshot services & logistics for Raven Applied Technology. “From machine performance to diagnostics, and now expanded tracking of both in-field and operation support assets, users of Raven’s Connected Workflow can expect 20% efficiencies gained when using the technology delivered through the integrated Slingshot platform. This partnership continues our focus to offer efficiency-driving solutions that help reduce variability and increase profitability for our customers.”

Not only will this technology allow users to monitor Raven-equipped machines, users can also track non-Raven equipped assets, including other battery-connected equipment (e.g., tender trucks) and non-powered equipment (e.g., trailers, tanks, and tool bars.)

“Our vision and Raven’s vision perfectly complement one another — to create and integrate technology-driven solutions that help ag retailers and large farmers improve their efficiency and ultimately, their bottom line,” says Eric Mauch, president of Razor Tracking. “This is a great opportunity to partner with a well-known leader in the precision agriculture space to continue to provide the best possible services to both of our customers.”

A Growing Platform

Since its introduction in 2010, the Slingshot platform has expanded significantly, which has enabled better fleet management through informed data-driven decisions. In 2011, Raven released Slingshot API to bridge the gap between activity in the field and existing software in the office. Serving as a host of support tools that ensures operators in the field have the most up-to-date enhancements and diagnostic information for their Viper 4 field computer, the company unveiled Slingshot Link four years later. In 2019, Raven acquired AgSync, Inc., a logistics software that helps ag retailers, custom applicators, and aerial applicators increase work efficiency by providing fleet data to overcome challenges related to managing large fleets, multiple locations, limited personnel, and disconnected software systems.

Subscriptions to Slingshot Fleet Tracking will be available beginning in June 2020.
